ANPC Nutrient Strategy Workshop

On October 16-17, 2023, the Agricultural Nutrient Policy Council (ANPC) hosted a Nutrient Strategy Workshop in Columbus, Ohio. The workshop was convened with the local support of the Ohio agricultural organizations and a field trip facilitated by the Grand Lake St. Marys (GLSM) Restoration Commission. The event was held for the purpose of sharing and exploring how agricultural groups have supported and participated in successful state-led efforts to help farmers and ranchers reduce nutrient losses to protect water quality.

This is the third workshop of this type the ANPC has hosted, and, based on positive feedback from attendees, the ANPC anticipates hosting similar events in the future. Approximately 46 individuals attended, representing staff of state and national commodity groups, state Farm Bureaus and the American Farm Bureau Federation (AFBF), state and national agribusiness associations, consultants, academics and agricultural companies. Participants were provided a summary report.

The ANPC Board of Directors will consider the summary report in determining specific actions it can take to support ANPC members in their efforts, as well as how to best convene the ANPC members around this work in the future.
